Dr Travis Smith
B.App.Chiro., B.App.Sc (Clinical)
Over the last quarter of a century, Travis has developed a holistic approach towards health care, treating a broad cross-section of the community with a multitude of physical issues, challenges and needs. As a life-long learner, he loves to integrate traditional principles and techniques with new ideas in both treatment and home care, in order to empower people to (1) be actively involved in their recovery (2) manage their own health more effectively and (3) create a personal health blueprint for the future.
Through his experiences working with people, his philosophy on health is a multi-factorial one, and is always a work in progress. Stress has detrimental effects on the body with prolonged exposure. Being able to manage and work on physical, chemical, emotional and spiritual stress is key in moving towards health, and in turn, working towards a happier, healthier and longer life.
Travis mentors chiropractic students within the clinic and helps supervise them at sporting events organised through Sports Chiropractic Australia (SCA) – a special interest group of the Australian Chiropractors Association. He is currently the Secretary of the SCA and served as the Victorian State Chair for 9 years.
Outside of clinical activities, Travis has worked with a broad range of athletes at elite events including the World Cup of Sailing, Australian Open Wheelchair tennis, Dodgeball, waterskiing at Moomba on the Yarra River, Athletics and particularly golf (he was a handy player once upon a time 😊). Travis has been a member of the Player Medical Services team on the Australasian Professional Tour for over 20 years and has worked at local and Interstate tournaments including the Greg Norman Holden Classic, Australian Opens, World Cups and Presidents Cup events.
When not working at In Harmony or attending seminars, Travis likes to spend time with his wife (and chiropractor) Rachel and their two gorgeous children. He also enjoys socializing with friends, gardening (when time and weather permits), working on his own personal development, and playing local cricket with Lower Plenty Cricket Club.
