Activator Methods
The Activator Method® is one of the most widely researched chiropractic techniques and the only instrument adjusting technique with clinical trials to support its efficacy. It is considered a gentle, low-force approach to chiropractic care.
Developed by Dr Arlan Fuhr (chiropractor) in the late 1960’s, the Activator Method has grown to now become the world’s most widely-used low force instrument chiropractic technique because of its specificity, effectiveness and gentle nature.
The Activator Method uses specific protocols to detect spinal joint dysfunction that focus on analysing leg-length inequality and testing neurological reflexes to determine where, when and when not to perform an adjustment. When an area of dysfunction is identified the patient will show a leg length change. The area of indicated dysfunction is then adjusted using an Activator adjusting instrument which provides a specific, controlled and fast thrust.
Because adjustments with the instrument are so quick and measured that the body’s muscles are less likely to resist, this allows for a more comfortable, gentle and effective adjustment which many patients enjoy. This makes it especially suitable for neurologically sensitive patients or older patients including those with arthritis, osteoporosis or other bone-weakening conditions. Rachel currently holds an advanced proficiency rating in Activator Methods.
